My busy time of year

January is normally the busiest time of year for me at work. It's also one of the times where people are starting their workout programs again so the Beachbody Coaching really takes off right now as well. I normally have a pretty big video project that I do for our CEO that takes up a good portion of time, as well as nights and weekends early in the year. This year the deadline is about a month earlier than normal. We knew this going into the year so we planned to get an early start.

Sounds easy enough. Just drop everything else and work on the big project for now. Then get the other ones done next month. Well, there are always other things that come up that need to be done right away. Here's an example of how someone's decisions that can seemingly not have anything to do with you can end up having a big effect.

This weekend we have a grand opening for our Behavioral Health Center. It's a beautiful building and will be a great asset to the community. We were supposed to have a special guest speaker, who will remain unnamed, but you can probably figure it out. She is a multi-time Olympic athlete and highly decorated Big 10 runner for the University of Wisconsin. For someone who loves Track and Field like I do, I was very excited about this. It's not very often that I would have a chance to work with an Olympic Track and Field athlete for my usual job.

She was going to talk about her struggles with depression and stress the importance of behavioral health care. As you probably know she has been in the news a lot these past few weeks for her side business of being an escort. I'm not going to get into that, but the point is that because of the news coming out her appearance did not happen.

Instead of being able to work three events with an Olympic Track and Field athlete, the decision was made to show a video instead. This meant that we had to pull something together fairly quickly. Time that I normally might have spent working on the video for the CEO was now going into getting a video ready for the Behavioral Health Center grand opening.

I enjoy working on these kinds of videos anyway and I think it turned out well. I just know it's going to be a really busy rest of the month. That adds a lot of stress. I'll plan to keep on working out in the morning with my wife (we are currently going through Les Mills Combat). There may be some late nights and weekends, but I'll stay on track with my training as much as possible.
